We are on the road to recovery!

March is the second month in a row that the Niagara Region has seen increases in sales and new listings, along with modest price increases overall.

Buyers are starting to feel more confident after putting their real estate decisions on hold late Fall of 2022 and are getting back out there to look for their dream home. We are also seeing sellers opt to hold offers. The final sale prices are ending up close to or slightly above asking…….not the frenzy of the first quarter of 2022.

The Bank of Canada announced earlier this month that they were holding interest rates, and March inflation came in at 4.3%, down from 5.2% in February. This is the lowest we’ve seen inflation at since August of 2021 and in line with economists’ expectations. With the downward trend, the 2% target for 2024 seems attainable at this point.

The Bank of Canada held its policy rate at 4.5% ye

The Bank of Canada held its policy rate at 4.5% yesterday, confident that inflation will continue to decline from 5.2 per cent in February to its 3 per cent target in 2024. It did not rule out further increases in policy rate to reach its targeted 2% in 2024.

Persistent costs of services in the Canadian economy remain the driving factor in inflation, with a tight labour market and wage growth remaining around 4 to 5 per cent.

The holding of the rate is good news for those with variable mortgages and Lines of credit. Those with fixed mortgages are not impacted.
